Massage Therapy

shutterstock_133763234Massage is a long standing therapy that has been practiced for thousands of years. It has evolved over time into multiple different styles and techniques. Massage therapy involves pressing, rubbing, or manipulating muscles and other soft tissue with the hands and fingers. Massage therapy is effective for treating muscular-related pain and discomfort as well as helping to prevent soft tissue problems before they domino into more serious disorders.

When massage therapy is used as a co-treatment to chiropractic, it can increase recovery time and help the treatments proceed optimally. This approach allows your chiropractor and massage therapist to discuss and review your case and symptoms so that they can both approach the issue. The body is an intricate machine in which all the muscles are attached to the bones. Even if you are being treated via spinal manipulation, the problem is only partially treated if the adjoining muscle tissue isn’t treated. Although our chiropractors provide some form of soft tissue therapy with every visit, they may recommend massage therapy to better serve you and your needs. We have found that a multi-disciplinary approach to treating most disorders or to help maintain balance is best.

Massage therapy is effective for many disorders such as:

  • Low back pain
  • Upper back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Stress
  • Slow healing issues
  • Sciatica
  • Chronic muscle tension
  • Myofascial adhesions
  • Headaches
  • Decreased range of motion or mobility

And much more!

At Lansdowne Health Centre, our Massage Therapists will customize your massage, depending on your age, condition, or any special needs or goals you have.
